Book of Shadows / Vishnu Woods - split cassette

Volume two of the folkwaste collage cassettes series:

Side A - Book of Shadows - "the initiate" - these unspeakably amazing and mysterious artists deliver here a sprawling side long track drawing out "...a particle of that infinite Beauty and Happiness latent in the mind..." like buzzing bees called out from the reverb depths, through a deep woods bass, and into flowering field of abstracted voices - full of grace, slick like honeyslides.

Side B - Vishnu Woods - "Nico teen" - a swirling mix of a decaying piano, vintage synth and harmonium. While VW's last release "Riley Rile" was a taste of the sugar cube of psych drone chant - this is a full dose. Three other tracks round out this desertshore, invoking everything from John Cale to John Carpenter and inbetween.

Super limited edition of 19 - handmade paper design, collaged innards, cassettes are hand painted and numbered, bound in twine - each one unique. Please send $7 in North America or $9 for rest of the world... paypal to individual6079 {at} yahoo {dot} com

New Yaki / Ghost and Swift Moths - split cassette

Volume one of folkwaste's collage cassettes series:

Side A - features the heavyweight meandering of New Yaki - four tracks to obliterate minds and expectations. Mostly recorded during an snowstorm at Gown's asbestos covered house in Nova Scotia. Some of their best since their ikuissus split cassette with the last night on earth. A long distance relationship can be pretty rewarding sometimes.

Side B - is "The Ghost and Swift Moths" the great new project of Jason Zenmoth. Collaborating here with Book of Shadows mainman Carlton Crutcher on the epic "Mind Alligned" - more excellent recordings to come from this psychic searcher. Reminding you that Eno is an effective antacid.

Super limited edition of 25 - book and vintage library card design, collaged, stamped and painted - each one unique. Please send $7 in North America or $9 for rest of the world... paypal to individual6079 {at} yahoo {dot} com.

As the organic matter of Lou Reed, John Cage and Pierre Henry decay in the a sheath of heavy molten rock, minerals replace their fragile bodies and slowly change into Fossils. hi frieNds - folkwasTe is getting readY for sOme new releases soon (think late summer). The moVe off the farm haS delaYed things a bit but these new releases are going tO be all the mOre better for it. UntiL then, check out theSe kind wOrds frOm our friendS at terrascope (we love you too!) : http://www.terrascope.co.uk/reviews/Rumbles_July09.htm "Housed in beautiful home-made packaging, the two latest releases from the Folk Waste label are both highly individual and both excellent. First up Partli Cloudi offer us “Rotten Wood”, 14 pieces of woodland music that rattle, scrape and pulse, containing strange samples, percussion, guitars, the music sounding like the high magic of woodland creatures, summoning the solstice spirits to join the party. Favourites include the forest trance of “Otherselves”, the fireside tumble of “Tantum” and the darker charms of “Huffy Bears Last Battle”, which takes the album into drone territory with liberal use of echo thrown in for good measure. Like finding the perfect leaf on a country walk, this is an unexpected but most welcome pleasure.

On the same label comes “The Secret Garden”, another excellent release from the ever reliable Book of Shadows. Once again, mystical, shimmering drones, echoed guitar and loads of atmosphere are the order of the day, with “You Have Gypsy Eyes” being the perfect starting point, a whispering sonic delight, as gossamer as lace and just as beautiful. Further in “Glistening” (one of four tracks written by guitarist Aaron Bennack), is like watching a feather fall in slow motion, a quiet hallucination that is made perfect by the sweet vocals of Sharon Crutcher. Seemingly filled with lighter touches than previous albums, this disc is filled with joy, no more so than on the blissed-out final track “Welcome To the New age”, the whole band writhing with energy as they take us to another dimension with a 14 minute drone that oozes presence, the spirit of early Tangerine Dream walking with them. various - Pins of Light resurrected - CDr

10
I figured we would have burnt up in the sun or at least fried our minds by now, but never thought we'd still be here to celebrate our tenth folkwaste release with this new compilation. Originally put out in scant quantities, totally undistributed and out of print before this website even existed, the very first "Pins of Light" compliation attempted to re-create the much beloved and/or much hated radio show of the same name. This time some new favorite artists to contributed, built on the foundation of tracks from the first incarnation, and reworked into this crazy psych drone MONSTER. Resurections and recollections. Reincarnations and zombies. Exclusive new tracks from Archers by the Sea, Enfer Boreal, Strongly Imploded, Newyaki, Vishnu Woods, imps, partli cloudi and an excerpt from the on-air VxPxC performance. Plus vintage maddness from Starving Weirdos, Shearing Pinx, and VxPxC. Super limited to 49 copies, mindburning art and third eye 3D glasses!

Gown - "truemanville" - CDr

07
Andrew McGregor is onto something really good. Time well spent with Thurston and Sunburned combines with an exile in Nova Scotia to yield this deeply fryed trilogy. Epic burnt instrumentals recall the entire Harmony of the Spheres, but these are no mere guitarscapes, truemanville's triptych is all at once fragile and crushing, both melodic and bleeding. This is the Gown we've been waiting for, a fucking maturity and complexity we always knew was in there. Spark, burn, blacken.
Woodblock printed sleeves with fabric spines, smoldering images, limited to 77 copies. Sold OUT!!

BROTHERS of the OCCULT SISTERHOOD - "EJe" - CDr

06
This is it. Smoke inhaled and blown out into the wide oceania sky. The moon just became brighter. Pathways revealed by songlines through high planes, drifting inward through oblivion. Ancestral footsteps, creaking cellos, smeared brown analogue electronics, alchemy rising, drums expanding, tied together by a delicate web of guitars... mere words fail the dark beauty of the Brothers of the Occult Sisterhood. In its invocation "Eye Joy Event" blinds the nonbeliever... converts the reverted. 7 tracks ensure you'll never be the same again. Musicyourmindwillloveyou forever.

2008 begins: moved to the farm and started the label. Lots of beautiful noises planned, very exciting!!!! Come visit anytime!!
Pins of light began as a radio show on CHLY 101.7fm, broadcasting for seven years from Vancouver Island, Canada all things mind expanding and psychedelic... Volume 1 is compiled from performances and favorite artists on the show: "i'll give you the info about the show name too while i'm at it.. basically, what happened was, there was that space shuttle explosion about 4-5 years ago, where the shuttle blew up upon re-entry into the atmosphere, with all the astronauts in it.. i was driving home after finishing graveyard at 7-11, and all this was being talked about on the radio.. they mentioned the "challenger" explosion in 1988 or 86, where the shuttle blew up just after liftoff and killed all the people inside, and how Ronald Reagan had described this type of explosion best with his "pins of light" speech, and i was pretty much like, "i'm stealing that for my psych show" the original name had been "fresh meat old slabs" after an obscure beck album .. and it was also briefly called "let us build a city of god." both pretty ridiculous, not that pins of light is any less. anyway i just tried googling the reagan speech and didn't come up with much, but it would appear he may have said "points of light" instead. so maybe i should stop crediting reagan with the show name, because nobody has ever seemed very amused by it. alright i'm gonna crash - see you tomorrow most likely" matt o
